Built in 1989, Honolulu Park Place is a 40 story concrete and glass building with 437 one or two bedroom condos. The building is “V” shaped facing the ocean and 9 out of 12 units per floor faces the ocean. The apartments all have floor to ceiling glass windows and large lanais. At the time of its development, Honolulu Park Place offered the best in modern living and unparalleled amenities.
Common Areas for Residents
The amenities for the residents are resort-like. The pool area includes a swimming pool, pool-sized hot tub, sauna room, steam room and wet bar. Get a workout at the two-story gym with dozens of machines and a health food restaurant. Sports activities include tennis, golf driving range nets, putting greens, indoor racquetball and squash courts, a billiards table, entertainment room and a Bowling alley!
The Honolulu Park Place is perfect for hosting a party or event. The lawn house can be reserved for events up to 35 people. The picturesque koi pond has pavilion huts which appear to be floating on water. The koi deck is surrounded by rock sculpture, manicured trees and bamboo trees. It’s great spot for a cookout. Party and meeting rooms are also available on reserve inside.
The 4-story cathedral lobby is secured with enter-phone and key fob. It has a security guard station and a resident manager’s office. Honolulu Park Place has tight security.
There is plenty of extra parking with 44 guest parking stalls. 2 br. condos have either 2 tandem (front to back) parking stalls or only 1 parking stall. One bedroom units have 1 stall each. The resident parking area is secure and monitored. It includes a car self-wash station.
Private Condo Features
All condos feature floor to ceiling glass windows and large lanais. The kitchens of most apartments are along the exterior glass walls. There is a view outside between the countertop and wall cabinets, a nice modern touch. Most kitchens have a countertop window to the lanai for passing food and drinks. Lanais are tiled and sized to hold outdoor furniture.
Living areas range from good to generous. The 2 bedroom layouts have good separation of private space with two “master suites” each with private bath on opposite ends of the condo. All units have in unit washer/dryer, central a/c and dishwasher. A storage locker is available near the unit parking stall.
The Bottom Line
Positives: loaded with activities and amenities for residents; modern appliances, bright and efficient layout; good security.
Negatives: Despite being good quality, the kitchens and bathrooms of original units are showing age.
