Building and Site Features
This 23 Story concrete building was completed in 2005. The building design is simple and efficient. The site is large and is relatively quiet for downtown. It’s adjacent to Nuuanu Stream and Aala International Park and is a two-minute walk over Nuuanu Stream to Chinatown shopping and restaurants.
Common Areas for Residents
215 N. King has 24 hour security for residents with private staff of guards and video surveillance. The large lobby has a mail room, manager’s office, security desk, and intercom. There’s plenty of guest parking. A meeting room is available by appointment. The secure parking garage for residents is separate from the residential tower. A large landscaped lawn can be enjoyed by the residents for walking, barbecuing, or playing with kids.
Private Condo Features
The condo units are efficiently laid out with little space wasted. Sliding glass windows to lanai and glass lanai railings allow for floor to ceiling views of the harbor or mountains and there are few other buildings nearby to block views. The original décor is white on white. Appliances include Dishwasher and Washer/Dryer in unit. Air conditioning is provided with window units installed through the walls.
The Bottom Line
Positives: It’s affordable, secure and modern. The maintenance fees are kept low with good management and compact design. Most units have good views of the harbor or mountains.
Negatives: Although it’s new, the building is boxy looking and doesn't have much curb appeal. The location across the Nuuanu stream is detached from the Chinatown community. Aala Park across the street seems to be popular with homeless.
These condos will appeal to budget conscious buyers looking for a Chinatown location without the crowded streets.
